Sent Items box

I have lost the option of saving messages in my sent
items box. I've tried downloading Service pack # 6,
checked the appropriate boxes under Tools, then options
in the send box, updated my viruses and tried unchecking--
shutting down system and then rechecking after. Plus,
the system originally had over 300 items in the Sent
items box, which I reduced to about 140, before I started
all of this.
Still, no luck

Does anyone have any clues (keeping in mind that I am not
that computer literate)?

Try renaming the sent items.dbx file (it may be corrupted).
1. Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files or Folders.
2. In the Named box, type Sent Items.dbx.
3. In the Look in box, click your primary hard disk (usually drive C), and then
click Find Now.
4. Right-click the Sent Items.dbx file that appears, and then click Rename.
5. Type Sent Items.old, and then click OK.
Restart Outlook Express to rebuild the Sent Items.dbx file, and then send a
message.

If you're not happy you can always reverse the above.
