Sent email goes to my outbox

Davy

When I create an email and press send, instead of going out it goes straight
to my outbox. I can then not send the message from my outbox, I have checked
the account info and the server details look correct. This has just happened
recently, the email account has been working fine previously so not sure what
has happened. Help appreciated as it is driving me nuts!

In Windows Mail select Tools, Options, Send. Is the box before "Send
Messages immediately" checked?

When you try to send from your Outbox what happens if you select Tools, Send
All?

There are two parts of the Sychronise Window. Click on Details to see the
bottom part and then click on the Pin in the bottom right corner so that the
Window does not automatically close. Access the Error tab and copy / paste
the report you find.

If there is no error message when you press Send, then at least one
of the messages in the Outbox is stuck. To confirm this, open the
Outbox and try to move as many of those messages as you can to the
Drafts folder. If any won't move and can't be deleted, apply this
Microsoft fix:

Is KB Article 941090 appropriate for a fully updated system? If Davy has
installed SP1 aren't you suggesting a backward step?

The versions of msoe.dll and msoeres.dll are given in the Article as
6.0.6000.20653 whereas I have post SP1 version 6.0.6001.18000!

If you've already installed the Vista SP1 update, the KB941090
hotfix will probably refuse to install. You can still use the
WORKAROUND section in its description, though.

Thanks Robert for responding. That was broadly my take on the situation. I
am new to Windows Mail and there are some odd changes from Outlook Express.
Not all are improvements. I thought I needed to check.

Coincidentally that KB Article does not say it is a Hotfix and there is no
suggestion that you need to telephone, as is usual, to get a Hotfix. I only
installed Vista for a short period before updating to SP1. As far as I know
I was never offered KB941090. I think I will add some comments to the KB
Article just to see if they might for once not ignore customer feedback!

Hotfixes aren't offered as updates, unless they're later included in an
update. I'm not sure if Microsoft wants to call them hotfixes, but that's
the term we use in this newsgroup.
