I have just bought a new computer with MS Vista Home premium. I can receive
messages in Windows Mail OK, but cannot send. At home I access internet via
Tesco broadband in the UK. My ISP is eclipse.co.uk (in UK). I am an old
codger who is not very good at this stuff. Can somebody please advise?

On attempting to send e-mails I get the following message:
An unknown error has occurred. Subject '', Account: 'mail.eclipse.co.uk',
Server: 'smtp.eclipse.co.uk', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '554
smtpout.karoo.kcom.com', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error
Number: 0x800CCC6F

Further to my message below, I turned off outgoing e-mail virus scan as
suggested in replies to similar questions. It still won't send and same error
message is displayed.

If you were in the USA, for example, you'd be able to receive a letter sent
from the UK using UK postage but you wouldn't be able to send a letter from
the USA with UK postage, would you?

Similarly, you cannot send mail via the eclipse.co.uk server if you're not
connected to the internet via eclipse.co.uk when you're sending a message.

The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'member', Account: 'IMAP', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP, Port:
25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

I already responded in the other thread :"sending mail".
Please, post in only thread per issue, preferably a new one.
