How can I send emails to a Category? Will it also work for a customise
category, say like Neigboours, which I type in?
Which is the best way to set Display As in the settings, i.e. Joe Blogg or
Jo Blogg ([email protected])

You can only change the Email Display As field manually. There is hardly
ever a need to.
To send to a Category, use the By Category view of Contacts, select a
Category > Actions > New Message to Contact.

Thank you for your response. All works ok except the Display As question.
In my Address Book I have entries Display As in three different format. One
Names only, one email address only. and third one Names and email address in
brackets. I face the same problem when I enter a new contact details. I also
import addresses from Access tables. On technical grounds which is the best
option?

Please answer also which is the best choice to export/import to an external
program. Access or Excel.

I already answered the "Display as question." Each version of Outlook uses
one of the three different formats for the Email Display As field that you
see. The format is not subject to user control. Importing Contacts will be a
complete crap shoot as to what the EDA will display. The only way to make
the EDA what you want is to change it manually or write code to do it.
No one I know has ever found any need to do so. The Address Book view does
not sort by that field, so it is unclear why you think you need to change
it.
Importing Contacts always creates problems no matter what format you use. I
would only do so using third party software such as

if you want all of the contacts to use the same display name, you can use
VBA to change the field.
