Hi,

I would really appreciate if someone can assist me on how
they have distributed the MS Security patch to the entire
domain using AD?
Microsoft have not released the .msi file therefore I am
strugling on how I can send the .exe through active
directory to a large organisation when users don't have
admin rights to their PC's..

As anyone done this?? Has anyone converted the patch given
by Microsoft into an msi file?
Please help.

I have successfully converted the exe to an msi, but am having trouble
deploying it. (We only recently upgraded to AD; like literally last week,
so I don't know how to use it yet.) I am considering using a batch file via
Zenworks or login script if I can't get it to work via GPO. In the
meantime, I am using HFNetCheckLE (free from www.shavlik.com) to get it on
vital servers quickly. It is an awesome tool but the free version can only
deploy to 50 machines :-(

The main thing to remember when converting the exe to msi is to NOT reboot
after taking first snapshot then running the exe.
Oh, I used WinInstall LE to make the msi (I love free software, can't you
tell?)

We haven't deployed Automatic Updating yet so we can't use SUS :-(

Hope this helps.
