sending & receiving email

My ISP has confirmed that my email account is configured correctly. After
reading some post answers, I changed my port # to 587, but the same problem
continues.
I get the same or similiar msg that other posters have posted re cannot open
or use the specified port #. thank you.
 
No. I use System Mechanic 7 Pro as my anti-virus software. I've spent a
number of
hours trying everything I know to get windows mail/vista to work on a new
laptop.
I'm at a loss as to what to do next except to try using another email
client. I would
like to use Windows Mail, but trying to get it to work has been a very
frustrating experience.
