If you look at the note on this selection it mentions that this can only be changed while using Internet Mail. If you are using an Exchange Server then this option is greyed out and unchangeable. The work around for this is to use the Preview Pane in the Outlook main window (select VIEW and Preview Pane) and go to TOOLS, OPTIONS, OTHER, PREVIEW PANE and uncheck the box that says "Mark item as read when selection changes". Doing this will allow you to view the message in the Preview Pane and not send a Read Receipt due to the fact that the item is not marked as read until you open it in it's own window

Outlook 2000 is not giving me the option to "never send read receipts" when sender asks for one. This option is located under tools, options, email options, tracking options. This is grayed out with "always send read receipt" selected. Is there a way to change this? Thank you for any input.
