When trying to send an email with an photo attachment i.e 806kbs from my
bigpond account, I get the 'sending message' box come up and the green status
bar goes right up to like 99% of the way. THen i get a box pop up saying
"Your SMTP server has not responded in 120 seconds. Woud you like to wait
another 120 seconds for the server to respond?' If I click on wait, i think
it still sends after a while, but doesn't leave the outbox. If i click on
Stop, it does send but also doesn't leave the outbox. If i'm sending an
email containing just text it send with no worries. Can anyone help me out
with this problem!? I'm also on a Home LAN, connecting wirelessly through my
laptop....when I open up Windows Mail and try to connect to start with i get
a message saying 'No Connection to the Internet is currently available', when
i retry it connects straight away. Any ideas about this problem also?

Your antivirus is compatible, but make sure its email scanning option
is off. For more on this topic see http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 .
Email scanning with a large attachment can cause the connection to the
server to time out.

Thanks so much for that. Now just have to work out if that's the problem and
how to turn off it off.

Do you also have any ideas about Windows Mail saying that im not connected to
the internet?? It's also given me a similar warning when try to run the
Windows Live Mail program....says that i'm offline. So i've been unable to
run the program. Would this be because i'm not directly connected and on the
laptop?

It's pretty hard to diagnose intermittent connection issues from
far away. Does the connection icon in the system tray (lower right corner)
show any evidence of losing the connection? I think it shows a red X
when the wireless connection is lost. To rule out your wireless connection
as the cause, you would have to connect to the router via an Ethernet cable
to see if that cures the problem.

There is nothing suggesting that there is anything wrong with the wireless
connection when I get these messages saying i'm not connected. I have full
strength at all times, that's what is confusing me so much about the messages
I'm getting. I never have any trouble with the internet, it's just when i
try to run the Windows Live Mail file i downloaded and also when I open up
Windows Mail. The Windows mail bring up the message saying i'm not connected
(when I am connected) but i just click try again and it connects. The
problem with the Windows Live Mail is just when I can't do anything at all,
as soon as i click the file to run it it bring up the same kind of message
and won't let me go any further.

In Windows Mail, go to Tools, Accounts, select the account, Properties,
Connection tab, and make sure the settings there are grayed out,
indicating that IE's LAN settings will be used.

If that checks out OK, I don't know what else to advise you for your
connection problem. Perhaps your wireless adapter is intermittent.
To rule that out, you'd have to connect hardwired to the router for
a while. If that makes the problem go away, you've narrowed the
problem down to the wireless connection.
