I have a desktop and laptop both running Vista Home Premiun 32 bit. Both
systems are less than six months old. They are networked together via Net
Gear router. Both systems have the same email address. My ISP allows email
sent up to 10 mg's. The desktop is running Webroot for adware and Trend
Micro for virus protection. The laptop is running the full version of
Webroot, adware and virus protection. I can send large emails via the laptop
without any trouble. Not so with the desktop. Any large email will get
stuck in the outbox. I get a timeout error. I wind up deleting it/them.
Emails in question never end up in the sent mail folder. Sometimes after
deleting an email I will try again with the same result. Now this is
interesting...."sometimes" they are actually received. If it's an email I
have tried to send a couple of times they may or may not be received more
than once. Again nothing ever shows in the sent mail folder. Does anyone
have any ideas????

Windows Mail is very sensitive to interference from security programs.
As a minimum, your security programs must not be configured to
scan emails. For more on this, see
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

Also, Trend Micro, Norton, and McAfee antivirus can interfere with WM
even when configured not to scan emails. Those antivirus programs
will need to be uninstalled. We can recommend a free antivirus program
that is more compatible.

Alternatively you can upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which appears to
be more resistant to corruption from aggressive antivirus programs.
