Hello,

I've had windows mail synced with my yahoo account for a month now and had
no problems. As of tonight Im sending emails but they're not reaching their
destination. I even tried sending an email to myself and it does not reach
me. It's showing as sent in my sent box and my outbox is empty. Any ideas?

Is there an Anti Virus application in this picture anywhere? If so, disable
ALL email scanning and see if the problem persists.

I have norton 360 and i turned off email scanning. Still no outgoing emails
or any error messages.

With Norton, you usually have to completely remove it to get it to stop
scanning email. Norton is only partially compatible with Vista and is known
to create all sorts of problems (it is far more system invasive than any
malware its supposed to keep out). The normal suggestion for this is to
remove Norton completely and replace it with a Vista compatible product like
Avast! or AVG (both of which are free for home, non-commercial users).

Thank you for advising of a different antivirus program. I have McAfee and
it has driven me absolutely crazy with it's SpamKiller program. It messed
up my computer on a regular basis!

I have been having to reboot to send an e-mail. Tonight I can't even send
one after re-booting.

Had the same problem and have solved it today.

If you have an email adresse through a different server than your internet
service provider, then you should for outgoing mail (SMTP server) use the
smtp server adresse of the internet provider (not email provider smtp
server).

For incoming mail you can however use the pop3 server for the email adress
provider (not internet service provider)

So say you have an email adresse through a server called ONLINE and internet
service provider is GET.

You would then for incoming mail use following server:

pop3.online.no (email provider server)

For outgoing mail:

smtp.get.no (internet provider server)

The reason you need to use your internet provider server to send mail is
because your email provider is limiting the amount of people sending through
their server. Quite common that email provider server will not allow you to
send out mail through their server if you are using another company as
internet service provider.

The example I've shown was for my case. I used Online for getting an email
adress and Get is my internet service provider.

Look on your internet providers webpage to find smtp server if you do not
have it at hand.
As it seems you are able to recieve mail you don't need to alter this pop3
server name.

Regards

Erik
