Sending mail is sporadic..Vista

I can receive mail fine, but not always send, especially in "reply" mode. It
gets hung up in outbox and I get error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'hi back', Account: 'Windows Mail', Server:
'outgoing.yahoo.verizon.net', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I'm running Trend Micro anti-virus, have DSL with Verizon...called them, all
my setting are correct. Please help! This is a brand new computer! Oh...it
sends fine thru my Yahoo web mail account. Thanks!
 
Two suggestions.
Make sure your antivirus does not scan emails.

Try using port 587 instead of port 25 for the SMTP server.

Thanks so much!! Seems like changing the port did the trick! I'm keeping my
fingers crossed that it stays fixed! It's been a frustrating week...
