Sending mail from remote location

my mail works great while at home. when I go on the road I can receive
ail but not send. I get the following error message:

Subject 'SKIDOO MACH Z 800LT (long track / long tunnel) (Jackson)',

'571 imp11 smtp.charter.net OTcuMTQ3LjE2LjIzMA== You must connect from
Charter IP space. E1110', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 571,
Error Number: 0x800CCC61

It worked on my last laptop and I have not been able to figure it out on
this one. I can't remember what I did last time to make it work.
 
Charter is one of those providers who don't support travelers.
In order to send while away from home, you must use a port other
than '25', but Charter doesn't offer that option. One possible fix you
can try:
Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
Enable the "My server requires authentication" option.

If no improvement, use one of these workarounds when sending
away from home:

1. Use webmail for sending (via your browser).
2. If you use the same away-from-home connection frequently,
substitute the SMTP server belonging to that connection. This is a bit
tricky, but if you want to go that route, I can provide more details.
3. If you frequently send from multiple locations, get a free Gmail account,
configure it for POP access, set it up in Windows Mail, and use that for
your sending chores. Gmail uses port 465 for SMTP, which is not blocked
like port 25 is.
