sending mail error connected with address book

In upgrading a computer I copied my outlook.pst into my outlook directory and
have ended up in a mess. First I could not connect my contacts with the
address book. this, with your help I fixed. Now I can't seem to send mail,
although I do receive it. In trying to send Microsoft Word sends a message
saying, "unspecified error". Can anyone help with this? Thank you.

Just to add to that, when I connected ny contacts with my address book a file
called "mailbox.PAB" appeared in the outlook directory.
