I'm unable to send files through my linksys nat router.
Receiving works fine, but i just cannot send.

I've looked and looked everywhere including
http://kb.linksys.com, but none of the settings i found
work.

I'm using Windows Messenger 4.7.2009, windows xp HE. My
router is a linkys BEFSR41 firmware version 1.43.3

Hello Jonathan,

Thank you for this quick response. Is there yet a French
release of Windows Messenger 5 ? Or if not, what is the
latest built of the MSN 5 series ? #0537 ?

Greetings Telly,

In order to send files through your router, you'll need
to first turn on Universal Plug and
Play (UPnP) in the router (go into the router's
configuration, choose the Password tab, and
turn the UPnP toggle on). Next, you'll need to upgrade
to a version of Messenger which
supports UPnP-enabled file transfer. There are two options for this:
Windows Messenger 5:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/messenger/download.asp
or MSN Messenger 6:
http://messenger.msn.com/Download

Although you can install either, please note that MSN
Messenger 6 does not replace your
current Windows Messenger (so you'll have two Messenger
clients if you install it). After
installing the new version of Messenger, login to the
new client as per normal and you should

I installed MSN Messenger 6.0. I could not get files
transfer or voice working with my Linksys WRT54G (UPnP
enabled)-- I installed the latest firmware for my router
as well. I just can't get the voice working. I recently
upgraded to MSN 5.0 for XP and haven't tried it yet.
