Sending files to non-XP users

I have Windows XP. When I create a document in Microsoft
apeadsheet or Works Word Processor and send it to someone
without the updated software they are unable to open it.
Is there somewhere else I can create the document and how
do I get into it? Thanks.

Hi,

They need to use the same or compatible software to open the file. For
instance, if you create a spreadsheet in MSWorks, then the recipient will
also need to have either MSWorks installed, or some other program that is
capable of importing it. Often times, there are free viewers available that
will allow them to at least read and print the file, here are some:

You can usually save a word processing document as a rtf and that will
be recognised in about every word processor there is.. Or any recent
version of MS Word should be able to open Works wps files, *provided*
that the Office setup did include the converter for it. Similarly Excel
should be able to open Works 2.0 wks files, though you might have to
take steps to save in that rather old format.
