After furious head scratching, Sarge asked:

||| after composing my email, if I enter another email address

[email protected]) for the recipient to reply to, that address will
||| not automatically become a hyperlink which the recipient can click
||| on. The only way I've found for that to work is if I enter the
||| address as follows: mailto:
[email protected]
