I have only one address that the e-mail is returned from, this doesn't happen
every time. I have checked my settings, and they are correct as given by isp.
I have removed the outgoing scanning. Had live chats with isp tech support.
The problem has not been solverd. SMTP error from remote mailer after
connection-------etc.
Any suggestions of how to resolve this problem--

WE MOVED TO MICROSOFT VISTA SOFTWARE. HOW DO WE SET UP EMAIL TO ACCESS OUR
OLD EMAIL MSN ACCOUNT?

I too have changed to vista. I just went to MSN and signed in using my old
information. I had to create my own shortcut, because I have an old, old
account, before they wanted money. and I can't use the new desk top icon, with
out going through the installation wizard. Forget that.

If the server at the remote end bounces the message back to you,
it is not due to any setting in Windows Mail. Perhaps I am
misreading your problem statement.

If you need more help with this, copy the error message, then
paste it into a reply here. Do not paraphrase, only an exact
copy is valid.

I tried to cut and paste, and in the to:window, I received a notice
(advertisement from Norton). I am not sure how to cut and paste. At this
point I am unable to send anything. I have to get some sleep. It is 1:30 AM.
Will try again tomorrow.

I'm having the same trouble. Here's the copy and paste.

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Windows email test', Account: 'pop.peoplepc.com',
Server: 'smtpauth.peoplepc.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F

I am at this again. I am going to call my isp. I have really messed this up
trying to fix the problem. I now have a new error message.

Are you running Norton Antivirus on your PC? That may be
part or all of the problem. Windows Mail is not compatible
with most McAfee or Norton security programs. Those will
need to be uninstalled, not just disabled.

After uninstalling your non-compatible antivirus, download
and install a more compatible antivirus like the free Avast:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

Even compatible antivirus programs will need to have their
email scanning option turned off. For more on this topic see

Thanks for including a complete copy of the error message.
Unfortunately, it doesn't reveal any obvious cause for the problem.

When you got that error, were you sending from your home location,
or from some remote location (Wi-Fi hotspot, etc.)?

Which antivirus program are you using?

Good Morning/ Afternoon- I was sending from home. I have only had this
computer for a short time and it came with Norton. I have already decided
that it must go. What is your take on AVG. I had it before. Is it compatible?
I know nothing about Avast.

From what I remember of antivirus comparison tests, AVG and
Avast rate about equal. However, Avast is more compatible
with Windows Mail, which is why I recommend it for WM users.

Thanks, i will check it out-- Should I remove Norton first? or can I download
and then remove Norton??

Either way is fine. If the Norton uninstall runs into problems,
there is a special removal tool on Symantec's website.

Thanks Gary, I will try that and hopefully it will solve my problem. I am
sure I wil have others. Have a great day

I am back, I uninstalled Norton, and downloaded AVG Anti Virus and AVG Anti
Spyware, because I had it on my other computer. Everything was working great
and fast. I thought all was fixed. WRONG!!! At 3:37 & 3:48PM I got back 2
messages sent to that same address, with the same error message. It is said
to be a permanent error. I want to know where & why, so it can be fixed. Is
it on my end or the receiver end? Symantex Live Updates is also installed,
should I remove that too?

It sounds like this particular problem is the result of something being
wrong at the recipient's end. That is not the fault of Windows Mail.
If you need a more definitive analysis, I would need to see the exact
non-delivery ('bounce') notice.

Incidentally, Vista includes the anti-spyware program called Windows
Defender, so there is no need for an additional layer of anti-spyware.
Each time you add a third party security program, the chances of
incompatibility issues are increased.

Yes, you should remove all Symantec programs.
