sending e-mail by contact categories

With each contact entered, I have assigned various
categories. I would like to send an e-mail to all
contacts that have been assigned a certain category. I
have attempted viewing contacts by category. I would
think that I could then right-click on the category and
it would give me the option to send an e-mail. It does
not. It appears the preference is to create a
distribution list, altogether separate from the
categories. This seems quite redundant.

Has anyone conquered this yet?

Try dragging the Category header to the Inbox, or selecting it and going to
Actions > New Message to Contact
