Dave

I posted this question about e-mail photos from the DI library to the
Picture It newsgroup. John Inzer, Picture It! MVP, answered saying that he
did not have a specific answer. Based on my settings, he said DIL9 e-mail
should work. I am running winxp, ie6 and oe6, so I am posting this to the
ie6 newsgroup to see if anyone can help.

Problem

I just installed Digital Image 9 Suite. When I try to send a picture using
DIL9, the Microsoft Exchange Setup Wizard pops up and wants me to use
Microsoft Mail instead of Outlook Express. OE is my default email/news
reader program and I have revivified this in the IE6/tools/Internet
Options/Program tab.

DIL9 Tools/Options is set for Outlook Express as the email program and the
DIL9 "Send in Email" window also has OE as the email program but when I
click "Insert in Email" I get the MSES Wizard instead. I have looked through
DIL9 help and have set up DIL9 based on what it said.

I have made a google and KB search and found KBA 180505. It says that the
problem is that oe in not the default simple MAPI client and on
Tools/Options/General, check both Make Outlook Express my default e-mail
program and Make Outlook Express my default Simple MAPI client.

My general tab shows oe is the default e-mail program but there is no box to
check for MAPI client.

I can use oe to send pictures without using DIL9 but I would like to use
DIL9 if possible. Any suggestions?

David

Have you confirmed with Digital Image that DIL9 can use a Simple MAPI Client
(OE) to send mail?

Is MS Outlook (or Office) also installed?

Try re-registering OE as the default: http://www.oehelp.com/oedef.aspx. You
may also need to re-register MailTo Protocol:
http://www.oehelp.com/oelnk.aspx. With OE as the default Mail Client, it is
also the default Simple MAPI Client; there is no MAPI option to check, at
least in OE6. That part of Q180505 is in error.

(Not to discourage you but consider the Big Picture [pun intended]. Is
trying to sort this out is worth your time?)

PA Bear, Thanks for the reply and the suggestions.

I agree that from the big picture it does not matter. I can use oe and
things will work OK. There are a number of other things in winxp, ie6 and
oe that I let go and have learned to live with but when I install a new
program I like to see if the peculiarities can be fixed. I guess that is my
engineering background. Often I find the problem and fix it. When I do, I
post it. Oh well, I will see where this leads.

Thanks again, David

I just checked the "Mail to Protocol" and it is the correct type and the
path to msimn.exe is correct.
