I keep getting an error message when I try to send or receive e-mails. My e-mail service provider told me I needed to re-install but I can't find my installation disk. What options do I have.

What version of Outlook do you have? What sort of mail account(s)? What
error message do you get?

I have the same problem as well and the error message I
get is..
"The connection to the server has failed.
Account: 'Hewitt Mail', Server: 'mail.hewittschool.org',
Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error:
10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E"

I think I have put something wrong in the account
config.. either in the Incoming Mail (pop3) part OR the
OUtgoing mail (smtp) part...

Outlook Express v.6

OS: Windows XP Proffesional

Thanks for any suggestions/help given.

Hopefully by joining this subject, I may find the help I
need. I am running microsoft office 2000 premium on
windiows xp. I am having problems in connecting. It
gives me an error code 691 saying that the username or
password is not recognized on the domain ect... I have
imported my settings from my incredimail program. It
will dial but when i think it's connected, it
disconnects. What could be the problem? and how do i fix
it?

Hi Katrina,

This sounds similar to the issue covered in the following article:

231773 OL2000: Error Connecting to Erols Internet Services
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=231773

If this does not help please provide the following:

1) Who is your email provider?
2) How did you 'import' your setting from incredimail?
3) Have you tried to manually create a profile?
