I am trying to create a custom contact form that can be sent to various
departments. I have set up a folder with the custom contact form as the
default. I can open it up and enter information into it no problem. I can
also save it. BUT!, when I try to open it, it comes up with the following
message:

"The property does not exist. The field you want to modify is not valid for
htis type of item."

Once I have pressed OK to this message, I get a previous version of a form
that I was working on. What am I doing wrong here?

I want to be able to send this form to others so that they can make
adjustments to our database that is on third party software.

Thanks

This sounds like you used a field on your contact form that came from the
All TAsk Fields or All Appointment Fields list, etc. -- something other than
All Contact Fields or user-defined fields.

Where did you publish the form?

It sounds like the last changes you made caused the new form to one-off,
though you would have come up with the generic contact form.

I would compare the current form with your last good form, and see if there
has been a dramatic change in size. If yes, then you want to go back and
add stuff, one bit at time, publishing it after each time, until you find
the problem. (When I develop a form, I keep three generations of it, so
that I never have to go back far to recover. I assume you also know that you
need to put the version number in the name of the form, so that no two
published forms have the same name. This is the only way to avoid cache
problems.)

You don't say, except that you want to send the form to various departments,
if the departments are on the same Exchange group. If they are, then you
want to publish the form to the Exchange Forms Library, and all departments
will be able to pick it up from there. Remember, that when you publish it
there, you do not want to have it published to the local folder. Having it
published in two places can confuse the system of access.
