OK, so where is it?

If I'm in the folder list for C:\programmes, and I pick a folder and right
click and select 'send to compressed (zipped) folder' I get a folder that
Windows Explorer cannot see. (I've got show hidden and system files
selected)

Agent Ransack identifies the new zipped folder as in C:\programmes, and lets
me move it elsewhere, but as far as WE is concerned it does not exist!

Explanations please!

Confused,

Even more important is to clear the "Hide extensions for known file
types" check box. Otherwise, you won't find any .zip files by their
extension.

Hi,
That's one of Microsoft's not-worth-bothering-to-explain little
"features".
It's interesting how many people don't know the answer, too.
In fact, neither did I for sure until just now when, tired of
seeing people confused by it, I actually tried it. All it did
was create a zipped version of the file right there in the same
folder for me. Mystery solved <g>.

All 'send to compressed (zipped) folder' means, is, take
whatever file I right clicked on, and create a zipped file right
here in the same folder.
After you give that command, a new file should appear with the
same name but a .zip extension, in the same folder you are
looking at. Sometimes you have to press F5 (refresh) to make it
show up right away.
So, put another way, if I am in D:\files and there is a file
there called file.txt, and I right click it, select 'send to
compressed (zipped) folder' , file.txt will be zipped and written
to the disk as file.zip. So, now you will/should see file.txt
and file.zip in the D:\Files folder.

Ah, I see the problem now:

I was zipping a folder not a file: but the new zipped 'folder' is not
treated as a folder in the 'folders' panel on the left, but is shown as a
file in the parent folder of the one that is being zipped, so you have to
open the parent and look in the right side window to see it - in my own
example, at the bottom of a long list of other files instead of with the
'folders' where one expects to see it.

Cheers for helping clear that one up.
