Problems with the right-click context menu are most often caused by
third-party software. You can use the free ShellExView to manage this.
Turn off all non-MS context menu entries to find the one that is
broken.

In addition, here are some links to help you troubleshoot the problem:

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers -

Right click causes an error and crashes Explorer.exe after installing
Windows XP SP2 - http://www.winxptutor.com/sp2/divxcrash.htm

objects - http://windowsxp.mvps.org/context_folders.htm

DHH,

In addition to Malke: Observe when the delay occurs. When right-clicking a
file or when choosing the Send To menu? If the latter, see what shortcuts
are present in the Send To menu. (Type shell:sendto in Start/Run dialog)

By default, the Send To menu in Windows XP lists the following commands
(destinations):

• Compressed (zipped) Folder
• Desktop (create shortcut)
• Mail Recipient
• My Documents
• 3 1/2 Floppy (A:)
• CD Drive

You could try removing the additional shortcuts to determine the problem.
You may also try disabling CD recording in CD-RW drive's Properties
(Recording tab). This in-turn removes the CD Drive from the Send To list.
Once you locate the culprit, place the other items back in the Send To
folder.
