Sometimes when I send an e-mail using Outlook 2007, the application
appears to try to send the message continually. The Outlook icon in the
system tray oscillates rapidly between its normal state and an e-mail icon,
and hovering over it produces the information that Outlook is sychronizing
files. The only way to stop this process is to delete the offending message
in the outbox (which sometimes works) or to close down Outlook. When I
restart Outlook the message is still in the outbox, and attempst to send it
restart the problem.
I am running Vista 32bit, with Office 2007 and Norton Internet security
2007, and am on BT broadband. I have disabled outbound e-mail scanning in
Norton with no apparent effect.
Attempts to display the Send/Receive Progress box normally produce a
very brief showing of it, but on occasions when I have managed to get it to
stay displayed (and I don't know how I did it!), it is apparent that the
send/receive process is cycling several times per second and left unchecked
will cycle hundreds of times.
This has happened on 2 or 3 occasions, and although it has cleared up
between times, it has now returned again.
Canb anyone suggest what may be causing this, or how I can diagnose the
problem further.
