Sending mail in a newsgroup, I press the Send button, and then for
several seconds the machine is frozen until the message is sent and
saved to the hard disk. My AV does not check outgoing email. What do you
think the cause is?

Thanks.

Hello,

Try deleting the Outbox file in your Message Store Folder. Make sure Outlook
Express is closed. When you start Outlook Express, the file will be
recreated.

To see location of message store folder, Tools > Options > Maintenance >
Store Folder

If it still does not work, try posting in outlook express newsgroup.

Does not appear that the OP is using Outlook Express. See the headers
below:

Message-ID: <[email protected]>
Date: Sun, 22 Apr 2007 08:34:29 -0400
From: Sanford Aranoff <[email protected]>
X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.75 [en] (Windows NT 5.0; U)
X-Accept-Language: en,he
MIME-Version: 1.0

It looks like Netscape Communicator 4.75 running in Windows 2000.

Some anti-virus programs may have the option of checking the outgoing
message, such as AVG Free, but not to newsgroups.

(1) Compact all Folders and then close OE
(2) Rename the Folders.dbx file to Folders.old in the OE message store in C:\
(3) Restart OE and test
