When clicking on the "Send" button in Outlook XP to send a message - the
message just stays on the screen and doesn't get sent. Receiving mail works
fine as does forwarding and replying. I only have a problem with new e-mail
messages.

Any help on this would be welcome.

Cheers

yes this happens, after send on xp close it then go to
sent items or outbox its still there , click
send /receive and it will be sent ,otherwise look at the
config of ms outlook mail accounts
under tools---accounts---view accounts---etc

also make sure the dial up connections are setup correctly

Tried that but still no joy - the e-mail client uses an SMTP server on a
network to send - All messages stay in the outbox and the account settings
appear to be OK.
However when the Send button is selected they do not get sent and no error
message appears.

Are you using Norton Internet Security or Norton Anti Spam? If so and you
are using Windows 2000, XP Pro or ME follow this link for more information.
I got this from Symantec after experiencing the same problem. Good luck!
