This probably does not help much, but my colleagues and I are encountering
the same problem. We are in an enterprise domain and connect to an Exchange
Server via either Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2000.
On machines that have been upgraded to Windows XP SP2 (or on machines that
have the xpsp2 version of IE installed), both "Send page by e-mail" and
"Send link by e-mail" have been renedered inoperable. They idle for a while
then report that the Exchange Server is offline.
Machines that are pre-SP2 versions of Windows XP or which are runnijng
Windows 2000 are not affected. The problem is obviously a bug in the version
of IE that ships with Windows XP SP2. No other browsers are affected; we have
tried Opera, Firefox, Netscape, and an older Mozilla and all correctly
initialize and present an Outlook mail form. IE 6 is the culprit,; I am
running build 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158CO.
I cannot find anywhere on the Microsoft site where they will take a bug
report on this without trying to charge me $$$.
