I'm using Yahoo! (UK) as my main email account in Outlook 2003. Sometimes I can send and receive emails without any problems. But sometimes I can only receive. At those problem times, Outlook keeps asking me for my user name and password when sending emails. I click OK hundreds of time, but the box comes back in a second. I checked all the configurations, and everything seems all right. Why does it happen, then? Could you please help me solve this problem? Please take a look at the screenshots below to see the problem

I don't set my POP3 server to localhost. I always write it as pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk but Outlook changes it automatically to local host. Which doesn't seem to be the cause of my problem because I was able to send my email even when my POP3 server was set to localhost just like the current situation.

Thanks for taking the time to offer your help.

Any other solutions, please?

No man if Outook is changing you POP3 server to localhost you have a problem. That is not normal. Unless if you have a POP3 server on your machine. Do you?

Sounds like you are using an AV scanner that is set to do inline email
scanning. Some early versions of those set the account settings to
LocalHost so they can intercept incoming and outgoing messages and
process them.

I'd disable any Outlook integration in your AV and any email scanning.
You might have to reset your account settings after that. And see if
there's a later version of your AV scanner that doesn't have this
problem.

Yes, this advice worked! I disabled PC-cilin's email scan, and now I can send emails without any problems. Thank you ever so much, Ken.
