I've had a few programs screw up where I have to go into Task Manager
and end them. Every time this happens, I get the "You chose to end the
nonnresponsive program, xxxx.exe" and the request to send an error
report. I will never send an error report to Microsoft, so I would
like for that prompt to never come up. Can I change the default
settings to make this happen?

Disable Error Reporting.

Open System Properties...
Start | Run | Type: sysdm.cpl | Click OK |
Advanced tab | Error Reporting button | Check:
Disable Error Reporting | Check: But notify
me when critical errors occur | OK | Apply | OK

Disable Error Reporting
[[Select to disable error reporting. When this option is selected, error
reports will not be generated.]]

But notify me when critical errors occur
[[Select this option to have Windows notify you when a critical error
occurs, even if you have disabled Error Reporting.]]

Disable the Error Reporting Service.

Open Services...
Start | Run | Type: services.msc | Click OK |
Scroll down to and double click Error Reporting Service |
If it is running, click the Stop button | Set to Disabled under
Startup type | Click Apply | Click OK | Close Services

Looks good. I'll let you know if I have any problems.

Thanks.

Good luck, if you find anything of relevance,I would be grateful for your
feedback!
I have disconnected error reporting and continue to receive "must shut down"
messages do to error reporting! and the kicker is, that I have filed 6
requests for information from microsoft, and never an answer have I received!
and every time I attempt to access an article that may shed some light on my
continuous problem!
I get the old "access to this article is unavailable at this time"
runaround!!!
if windows support refuses to allow us to know what we can do to prevent
these continuous and aggravating error reports from closing the browser we
are in, at inconvienent times, causing loss of information and consternation
commeasurate with the lack of any help or advice comming out of microsoft
support!!! what can we do to find out for ourselves? (should I wipe windows
from my system and try another company?) I had thought microsoft the best!
however their lack of regard or answer to any of my requests for helpful
info. has erroded my confidence in the extreme! any answers to my delemma?
