I've been using Outlook 2003 (internet SMTP without an Exchange server)
for about 7 months without email sending problems. I work using a
laptop at home, work, and at client's sites.
At one and only one client, I get connection to the internet in the
browser, I can receive mail no problem, but I can't send. When I send,
my various ISP's reply, "Relaying not allowed" sometimes with a 550
code, or else similar messages.
Actually, the message goes out. But I get a message in my inbox showing
the message was not successfully sent. The Outlook message viewer for
this message type has a "Send again" button. I've never seen these
features because I never had this problem before. My ISP's all require
verification, and I have no problem from any other location.
This client has a Watchguard firewall. However, other roaming users who
like me are not on their domain, are able to send email. They don't
have the same ISP that I do so I can't narrow it down - it may be that
all of my ISP's are stricter in some way (Verizon, Adelphia, Earthlink,
and even XO).
Another factor is that I have NAV. However, I tried turning off
scanning of outgoing mail and that didn't relieve the problem.
