When I first open windows mail any mail in the outbox is sent but then I
can't send mail. I can receive but only send if I log out and then log back
in. Have checked out other threads but can't see a specific solution. Help
please very frustrated.

Which antivirus program are you using?

If you have McAfee or Norton antivirus, uninstall it. Reboot and try
Windows Mail again. Once you get your email working properly,
download and install a less intrusive antivirus program such as the
free Avast. Whichever antivirus program you keep, be sure to
disable its email scanning option.

Vista if it causes such problems?? Thank you for your help. I tried to turn
off email scanning and it didn't help so suspect I'll have to totallt

Norton pays the company that makes your computer
to include a free trial in the hope that you will
take up a subscription.

It is, to all intents and purposes, a loss leader.

Note. You have an internet browser on your computer that gives yoe
access to something called Google www.google.com
which in turn makes it insanely easy to find stuff.

Give it a try sometime.
