Does anybody know if it is possible to "send as" or "send on behalf" from mail enabled public folder? How to set it up

Yes. the Exchange admin needs to grant the account Send As permission for
the folder.

I am trying to find a way how to share calendar/tasks/activities information with a number of people. Sounds easy but it is not (unless I do something incorrectly). We want to have either common mailbox or a public folder.
1) common mailbox (a person adds this addtional mailbox to his/her profile)
when trying to arrange a meeting with a contact in common mailbox, meeting date pops up in personal calendar (not in common calendar). Also activities tab does show nothing..
This can be overcome by using two outlook profiles. However, switching between two profiles all the time is inconvinient.
Also, making the folders available off-line can be done only by switching profiles and defining send\receive groups seperately. So, this solution does not satisfy us.
2) public folder (containing contacts/calendar/tasks
exactly the same happens with PF: any appointment arranged with a contact in PF, shows up in personal mailbox' calendar instead of common calendar....PF has one advantage: I can arrange synchronization of the folders in the same outlook profile, so they are available off-line without switching between outlook profiles
It is a bit tricky..

Fyi, similar scenario happens with sending e-mails (send as/on behalf of). This was solved by my friend who wrote a macro which moves sent messages back to the secondary mailbox' sent items folder based on display name of the common mailbox. Works good. We also discovered a way how to handle deleted items folder (normally, when you delete a mail from inbox of the additional mailbox, it goes to your deleted items folder...
