I am having problems sending and receiving files using
the MSN messenger Send a File or Photo option. Whenever
I try it always fails. I am using Windows XP home and I
am on a DSL line. Is there something I can change that
will let me send and receive files? Although if I change
something I don't want it to mess up my internet so if it
will do that then I will just leave it alone. If there
is a way to fix it I am pretty dumb when it comes to
things like this so a step by step guild would be great.
Thanks for your help!

Greetings Scott,

You may just need to turn off Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP. To do so, click
Start, then click the Control Panel. If you're in category view click Network and Internet
connections then click Network Connections. Right click your network/internet connection,
then click Properties. Click the Advanced Tab, and verify that the Internet Connection
Firewall is unchecked.

Keep in mind that if you're having problems receiving files, this is a problem on your
sender's side, not yours -- turning off the Internet Connection Firewall will only fix
sending file problems.

If it's already unchecked or this didn't have any effect, you may just want to install the
latest version of MSN Messenger (6.0), which should allow you to send and receiving files to
other MSN Messenger 6 users without any other problem:
