A new problem come up when we convert our Access from 97
to Access 2000.

The problem has been replicated as follows:

1. Create a table with 3 columns of text field
2. Go into the table and start entering 0001 into first
column
3. And then hit the tab key
4. Enter 0002 into the second column
5. And then hit the tab key
6. The problem is that the software self generate the
character 3 in the last column

Why?

Another sequence that also generate a character is 0001
then 0003 - this time it generates 5.

Strange and frustrating - any ideas why???? Highly
appreicated.

The Access 2000 is running on the Windows 2000 platform

Thanks in advnace

6. The problem is that the software self generate the
character 3 in the last column

Why?

Because some Microsoft developer (evidently far more familiar with
Excel than with Access) thought it would be a good idea. It isn't of
course.

The solution is not to use table datasheets for data entry (good
advice in any case); Forms are not susceptible to this misbehavior.
There is no way to turn it off in datasheets.
