This file, desk.txt, creates itself and cannot be deleted
normally. The only way to delete it is by starting up in
safe mode and using the command prompt. But after a while
it just starts to create itself again in the Program
files/Common files/Services directory. After it created
itself, it just grows and grows. At one stage it was
clogging up my harddrive completely. Has anyone ever seen
this? MCAfee does'nt detect any viruses.
Please help!!

Thanks , I'll give it a go and let you know if it worked.
Regards
Jonathan

Hi Jonathan,

I guess the file is kept open by an active process. You
can use this information to see what process keeps it
open. Several tools can do this, a nice one is Process
Explorer, get it from
http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml
In Process Explorer go to Find/Find Handle... then enter
desk.txt. It will list the process(es) that have a handle
to that file. From here you can go to the process
properties, see what the command line. You can now try to
find where this program is started from (services,
registry, ect...).
