I was finishing up some paperwork on my computer, then went out for supper,
leaving the computer on. When I returned, ALL of the icons on my desktop,
menu bar and start menu were larger than normal. I asked other members of the
household about it, and no one else used the computer... I am not sure why my
computer has done this... does anyone have any ideas about how I can fix this?

Right click the desktop.
Click Properties > Appearance tab > Effects button.
Uncheck "Use large icons" if checked > click Ok.
If already unchecked:
Click the Settings tab.
Move the Resolution slider to the right one notch > click Apply.
Adjust as necessary. and when your satisfied click Ok to close out.

Right-click on the desktop and choose properties. Go to the "Settings"
tab and under "screen resolution, move the slider to the right,
towards "More," until you have it back where you want it.

How did it happen? My guess is that someone who used the computer was
afraid to tell you that he messed up the resolution.

What you've experienced is an example of the "Postprandial Visual
Augmentation" feature. This allows for the fact that after eating, your
sensory system is not as sensitive as normal.

Solution: don't ever eat.
