hello everyone,
i need a way to restrict restricted users from
accessing programs installed on a machine. i need a way
to make it so that a program like microsoft word is the
only program, whatever, that can be executed. any help
would be appreciated. thank-you

ALSO: i have users that say they can gain access to a
computer, with the admin as the only user (password
protected), by bypassing the password at the password
prompt, not through a password reset disk, but at the
password prompt (by entering a "code" lol). somehow i
think this is bogus. but to eliminate the threat please
tell me if this is true or not and if it is true
(unlikely) how to eliminate the posibility. thank-you
once again.

Making only Word run sounds nearly impossible. You might look into SAFER,
but I don't think that will get you quite the hardening you want.

On Windows 95 - Windows ME it was possible to hit Esc and skip the password.
Not true on Windows 2000 (or the NT family in general). Nor is there a
"code" to get in. It would make for a pretty good movie, though. ;-)
