Selecting month out of a date using a query?

Could someone please help?????

I am wanting to select the month out of date using a query but i am unsure
how.

The date in the table as it stands is 20091225 and i am wanting to use the
middle 2 digits of the date but i am unsure want to use in the query to take
only those 2 digits?
