Selecting from multiple email accounts

I have Outlook 2000: (IMO) as upgraded by Office 2000
Service Pack 3. My OS is Win XP SP1; my ISP is
comcast.net. I have (with guidance - by telephone - from
my ISP tech. support) established two email accounts.
Call them acct1 and acct2. When I go to Outlook's menu
Tools>Accounts, the two account names are shown on
the "Internet Accounts" dialog box. Acct1 is shown as
the default account. Also, I can select each of those
accounts and view their properties. The two accounts
have different email addresses and passwords.

I have never used Outlook before. My problem is that I
cannot find a way to switch from one account to the other
so that each uses the appropriate email address in
the "from" and "reply" sections of the outgoing email.
My Outgoing emails always show "From acct1". My attempts
to switch to Acct 2 by using the Tools>Send/Receive menu
don't solve my problem. I am testing my attempts by
emailing to myself.

Note: After my grandson used instant messaging and Kazaa
on my computer, I have been deluged with undesirable
emails (porn, etc.). Therefore, I need to change my
email address. And I may need to change again in the
future as other junk emailers discover my address. That
means notifying all my email correspondents of the
address change. My thought is that if I had one address
for correspondence with my group of selected friends and
another for internet wanderings, I probably would not
need to change the address used for my group of friends
very often if ever. When I send an email to a friend, it
should have the proper "return address". That is, From
Acct2.

How can I switch between multiple accounts so that each
has the desired "return address"? What is the detailed
procedure? What am I doing wrong?

If both mail accounts are configured properly, you should be able to choose
between them when it's time to send the message by clicking the little down
arrow next to the Send button, or by using the File | Send Using... command.
A list of available e-mail accounts should pop up and you can choose the one
you want to use. As soon as you choose one, the mail will be sent through
that mail account.

I use Outlook 2000 (IMO). I do not have a little down
arrow next to the send button. Also, I do not have
a "Send Using ..." command on the File menu. However, I
have discovered a way to choose between accounts. In the
New Email window, I can click the Options button and
select the account in the "Send message using" menu.
This seems awkward, but it works. Thank You.

You may want to try resetting the Standard toolbar in a new mail message and
see if that restores the arrow...or see if you can customize the toolbar
with the Send button that contains the arrow. I know mine had one when I
used Outlook 2000 in IMO mode (which was not too many months back,
actually -- I only ran Outlook 2002 for a short time before recently
upgrading to Outlook 2003).

I believe you want to set up separate log-on profiles in
Windows XP first. Then set up an Outlook profile for your
windows logon account, then logon as your grandson and
set up an Outlook profile for him.

In theory, when you log on to Windows, you get only your
mail accounts and when your grandson logs on to Windows,
he gets his mail.

Whether or not you need to reinstall Office, I'm not sure.
