Selectable text???

Is there a way to make all the text in a slideshow selectable (with
functionality to copy, of course)? I am making a presentation that goes out
to editors and writers and it is vital that they be able to select the text
in the presentation.

If they have PowerPoint installed, and the presentation isn't password
protected, and they open the presentation in edit mode, they can select and edit
any text that was entered via PowerPoint. Text in bitmap images can't be edited
in PowerPoint.

It seems like there must be more to your question. What problems are you
having?

Well, this presentation is going to be on CD. I'm going to hand out these CDs
to editors and writers. They should be able to run it whether they have
PowerPoint installed or not. Now, they are going to want to be able to just
pull out the content (basically, copying the text for the most part) from the
presentation. I want them to interact with the slideshow through PPT Viewer
ONLY and nothing else. So opening the presentation through PowerPoint and
selecting the text through edit mode is out of the question (they shouldn't
have to have PowerPoint anyway).

Basically, I just want the presentation to have the functionality of a
typical webpage (be able to highlight/select text and copy it, but not be
able to edit). I want this done through PPT Viewer. Is there an
option/feature in PowerPoint where I can make all the text selectable when
the slideshow is viewed in PPT Viewer.

Does this make sense? Just think of Flash. Text is selectable through its
player.

The Viewer won't do what you want. Text can only be accessed and copied in the
PowerPoint application. In the Viewer a click on the screen will advance the
slide, activate an animation, or do nothing, depending on the content.

An alternative would be to save the presentation to a Web Page, which generates
HTML. In a browser, the text can be selected.

To then put it on a CD you might want to look at
http://www.soniacoleman.com/Tutorials/PowerPoint/acdpc_pro.htm which facilitates
that.
