Hi

I am trying to select pictures to move from one file to
another. I hold down the crtl button and click on the
pictures I want to move. Most of the time I get it right
and get just the pictures I want but other times I end up
copying the whole works which is not what I want. What
am I doing wrong ( I have not dragged at this point in
time either , I am still just selecting)

Thankyou

Diane,

If you hold down the CTRL key WHILE SELECTING (left clicking),
you can select a RANDOM series of files to act upon.

If you hold down the SHIFT key WHILE SELECTING (left clicking),
you select a SEQUENTIAL series of files.

Bearing the above in mind...
- Holding down the CTRL key while dragging with the mouse,
COPIES all hilit files to the desired location.
- Holding down the SHIFT key while dragging with the mouse,
MOVES all hilit files to the desired location.

Hope this makes sense and helps,

If working in Windows Explorer, add the "Move To" and Copy To" buttons to
your standard toolbar. Right click on the toolbar and select Customize to
add these.

After getting your files selected, click the appropriate toolbar button.
Use the screen that appears to select the target folder. Click OK. Also,
this screen will remember the last folder that you selected which in turn
helps make easy work of sorting through and organizing a large number of
files.
