Select Recipient Name Sorting

I recently installed Outlook 2003. I imported contacts
from an older version but any messages sent to those
contacts went Plain Text even though my default setting
is HTML. I deleted and re-created a few entries and
messages to those re-created entries retain the HTML
format.

Now whenever I click the 'To...' button to select a
message recipient, the re-created entry names display
as 'first last' in the Select Names dialog instead
of 'last, first'. The remaining imported entries display
correctly as 'last, first', and all entries (imported and
re-created) display correctly as 'last, first' in my
Contacts folder.

Is there any way to correct this?

Thanks for the reply Russ.

Perhaps that is my problem -- not understanding Address
Book versus Contacts. When I click on the Tools pulldown
menu and select Address Book, what appears to be the same
list pops up, except all names are sorted 'last, first'
as desired (just like in the Contacts folder). On the
upper right there is a field 'Show names from the' and it
has Contacts selected. If I select Outlook Address Book
instead, it indicates 'No entries in this Address Book'.

What am I missing?

How did you set the sorting options for the Outlook Address Book?

Thanks Russ. You are a genius! It seems to work
properly now. I'll try re-creating more of my Contact
entries to confirm this.

It's too bad that I have to re-create all of my entries,
but the imported entries seem to have taken on a hidden
property to send in 'Plain Text' only, even though for
both my old and new versions of Outlook, my default was
Rich Text or HTML. But that is not too bad a price to
pay for this improved version.
