Vista Ultimate using Aero.
Occasionally the "Select All" options fails to work in Explorer using CTRL-A
& from the organise button.
Also can't select different items by holding down CTRL button & left
clicking, or by left clicking in the explorer window & dragging the blue
box.

But Select All works ok in IE or other programs so CTRL button is OK.

Have set folder options back to default.

But then it will work ok out of the blue.

Any ideas?

It's a quirk of Explorer that's been showing up on some people's machines.

Once it's set, its perpetuated by the saved folder view settings.

It does seem that once a folder has gotten into this mode, it is saved with
its view settings, so the following should help:

1) Close all Explorer Windows

2) Start Search -> type: regedit<Enter>

3) In RegEdit, navigate to the following key:

"HKCU\Software\Classes\Local Settings\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Shell\Bags"

4) Delete the 'Bags' key. THIS WILL ERASE ALL SAVED VIEWS

Log off & log back on.

Hello Keith,

Thankyou, I have tried this & will let you know how it goes.
