Seems to work well?

So far MSAS hasn't found anything on my computer since I
installed it two months ago. So, I do not know whether it
works or not yet. I have also noticed Ad-aware finding
the odd "tracker" that MSAS does not find. It's also
possible that the firewall in my modem is working better
than expected.

Microsoft Antispyware consistently ranks highly in comparative reviews.

It doesn't, in the builds distributed thus far, scan cookies at all, which
explains your Ad-aware finding.

I've had a similar experience - MSAS has not found ANYTHING
since I installed it. I am presently running a full
Ad-Aware scan and it has already found over 50 "critical"
objects! I recognize that MSAS is a beta, but based on
what I've seen I'll be sticking with Ad-Aware as my primary
anti-spyware.

This is excellent - probably you have no malware in your PC.

AdAware counts "cookies" as "critical" for some unknown reason. Cookies are
not in any sense exceutable malware, and it is documented that MSAS, in this
version, does not report cookies. Unless AdAware has found some executable
malware files, then you can relax.

Hi

This is up to every thinking user to deside !!! Not MS or any other
softwarecompany !
We will have a PC community who knows about this and can make their own
judgement and others who knows nothing and are happy with this.

TAC - Tracking Cookie

TAC Level: 3

A tracking cookie is data stored on your computer in the form of a
cookie and is shared between two or more websites to enable them to
track your movements across the web. This will help them gather
information about your interests and tailor special marketing for you
and gather statistics when visiting their sites. While these tracking
cookies are NOT in any way harmful for your computer you might feel
they are an intrusion to your privacy. Ad-Aware supplies you with the
ability to remove these tracking cookies if you wish to do so.

For Ad-Aware SE Plus and Ad-Aware SE Professional, Ad-Watch can be
configured to block tracking cookies. In the Options screen in Ad-Watch
check "Block tracking cookies" and Ad-Watch will block tracking cookies
before entering your computer.

Plun,
As a thinking user, I deem critical to be just that.
IMVHO, I've never seen a critical cookie.

Coincidentally, there was a radio report over here today about a
survey/study which summed up to be that folks don't want the government(s)
to stop the badware, but want respectable companies (specifically mentioned
were MS and Dell) to kick this stuff out or not let it in.

Well, My personal opinion about this is that we do not need this
functionality.
Do you want to help Alan Ralskys gang ? or Direct revenues gang ?

Once upon a time this maybe was a good idea but the bad guys have taken
over.
So remove this privacy intruder until the bad gyus are gone. MS likes
this I know but
tracking cookies are totaly dead until we can handle them safe and that
user knows that
this movement IS tracked. Alan Ralsky and Direct Reveny makes money
out of these movements !

IMHO again.
