I just upgrade to XP Pro from WIN2K Pro and I have had a strange occurance
happen. I rebooted to try to resolve a wireless router problem and boom my
old desk top from one month ago pops up. Now 1 month ago I had WIN2K Pro
installed and I thought I lose it due to another wireless router problem. I
really only changed 3 things - 1) I lost all the email up until June 2006 2)
I lost all my Itune songs and had to reinstall and it remove desktop Icons.

So I asked someone at work, who is very knowledgable and he said it sound
like I have 2 operating systems running at the same time. He gave me the
steps to check to see which OS is being pulled and when I did it just gave me
XP even though when the system does boot, the WIN2K bar come up first and
then the XP logo.

I this point I have the old desktop and I decided to install SP2 and when I
rebooted again I got the new desktop back with all my old email messages
missing again. I forgot to BU the messages.

Can anybody suggest what I might do to find my stuff. I am at a loss.

Thanks in advance.

Well, if this is someone who thinks you can have two operating systems
running at the same time (short of running something like VPC) I hate to
tell you this, but he is not at all knowledgable.

He

What does "the WIN2K bar come up first" mean? What's the "WIN2K bar"? Please
explain *exactly* what happens.

When Windows 2K boots a bar scrolls across the screen telling the user it is
loading. However in this version it is just he bar and not the words Windows
2000.

If I didn't have 2 things going at the same time then how could I get a
version of an OLD desktop when all my email received since I installed
Outlook and then on a reboot get the Newer Desktop with email just since last
month. I had over 1800 messages on the old desktop verison and now I only
have a little over 200, so something is going on but I want to fix it so that
I don't have guess what when I boot my computer. I seems like I have 2
versions of my desktop.

Thanks
