Is there a freeware which can read the .GID file format.

I sometimes see a small application create a GID file after it has
run. I believe there are parameters stored in the GID file.

(Examples of freeware which create GID files include IrfanView,
InCtrl5 TinySpell and TrackerV3.)

Hi,
Open any older Ms *.HLP and an *.GID is created.
The new *.CHM format does not.
Just right-click / Open with: "Notepad.exe".
If less than 64K, it opens: it is just like a *.TXT file.

If I open it as a text file in notepad then what I see is
unintelligible.

I want to change some of the parameters which are held in there.

Hi,
This is an information file of NO VALUE whatsover to you.
It is used by its corresponding *.HLP file to keep a record of what you were
seeing/tabing into the *.HLP file itself.
No other purpose.
Content changes as you explore the *.HLP file to keep an up to the minute
"where/what is he into in here".
Pointless to want to edit.
EOD.
