The Epson-supplied profile for ColorLife paper on
my Stylus Photo 960 is not quite to my
liking. I'm getting better results doing manual
color control in the printer dialog. (The Epson
profile has a yellowish cast).

I'd like to edit the profile. Features I'd
like in an editor:

o- a set of color adjustment sliders like those
in the Epson printer dialogs: gamma, brightness,
contrast, saturation, cyan, magenta, yellow

o- additional sliders for: green, orange, purple

o- ability to apply the sliders to particular channels
of images: the six colors noted above, for example,
or any RGB-set-specified color channel

o- ability to tune the printing of distinct regions of
the brightness scale in a black and white print.

For example: my black and white
prints, despite all attempts so far, can still show
color artifacts in certain brightness ranges. I'd like
to be able to use the adjustment sliders to
"kill the blueness in the 220-240 brightness range"
( on a 0-255 brightness scale ) and "remove the
yellow cast from grays in the 20-72 brightness range"

o- ability to fine tune the printing of particular colors. For
example, I'd like to copy and paste color samples from images
that are giving me trouble, and tweak how the profile handed those
particular colors using the adjustment sliders.

Anything like that exist ? At affordable prices ?
Anything close ? Any open-source projects ?

If nothing affordable exists: anyone got other
ways to get the yellowish cast out of the
default profile ? (I made a couple of attempts
with ColorVision's Doctor Pro tool, but it's
a squirrelly unpredictable half-blind thing).

Thanks for the power of the group mind ....

Hi Greg
Here's something: http://www.eddiem.com/photo/labwarp/labwarp.html - I
haven't used it but it looks like it will do at least some of what you want.

Thanks for the pointer.

I downloaded LabWarp. The interface is ... ummm ... useful to
the original programmer. Not meant for the rest of us. Too bad;
looks like Eddie's got some good arithmetic going on underneath
the hood.

I'm sniffing what I want doesn't yet exist.

I'm developing a program to edit printer profiles that may be what you are
looking for. I expect the first beta release to be ready in the beginning of
January. If you want to test it, send me an email to
(e-mail address removed) (remove de "x_"), and I will give you a free
registration for the definitive version.

Great. I'd enjoy testing it, and will send an email.

Happy coding ....
