I've a new notebook with XP Pro. When I'm at home I use
it as a removable drive and work at my desktop running
2000. Problem: From 2K machine I can see Computers near
me\Notebook\ShareName\Folder\NestedFolder But when I try
to access the folders inside the nested folder, I get
NestedFolder2 is not accessible. Access is denied.
If I share nestedFolder directly, I get the same thing.
I've turned off Simple sharing sharing so I can see the
permissions etc. and I've give "Everyone" full control in
both permissions and security. No Go
BUT I tried to share NestedFolder2 directly, I first got
the same message until I checked security and saw that
admins, me, creator/owner, system and users were in the
list but Everyone was not. Adding that did the trick.
My understanding is that giveing everyone full control
should propagate to all included folders, and if not, it
should at least ask me for a user name and password.
Makes backup to tape a big pain, I'd hate to make setting
folder permissions a local cottage industry in my network
for one.
Any ideas?
