problem:In our centre we will give training for softwre
courses. So any student who joined for the course has to
open only that software he has joined and not allow to
open other softwares on the entire network.our network
consists of 2000 server and windows XP Professional
clients.

Please tell me the method to implement this
problem.Thanking you.

A user will not be able to access resources on another network
machine unless they have proper share/ntfs permissions. For specific machine
control, XP has a great feature called "Software Restriction Policies" that
you can use to lock down a machine to specific applications. Be sure to test
out any changes before implementing as you can lock yourself out. If that
happens, boot into safe mode and an administrator should be able to regain
access. If users are local administrators however, you will have great
difficulty controlling their access on their computer. There is also a way
to manage new XP policies in a Windows 2000 domain. --- Steve
