I am trying to set up security on my database but I have run into a few
problems. I set up the new Workgroup, add the new Admin User, remove Admin
rights from the Administrator, and then I use the Security Wizard to set up
the rest of my users and groups. When I run the Security Wizard it never
finishes, it just sits on the first bar. It never locks up Access but the
Security Wizard never finishes either. As I was trying to do some
backtracking to find out the problem I realized that after I set up the new
Workgroup it then doesn't allow me to go in and make any changes to reports
etc. It tells me that another user has it locked and no changes can be to
the report etc. I have tried this multiple times and each time I did make
sure it was compacted and compiled before starting the process. The
database was in 97 and I recently upgraded it to XP. I would greatly
appreciate any suggestions you might have!
Thanks in advance!
Deb

I don't know about anyone else, but I was having a devil
of a time (similar story) using the wizard. I ended up
just following the Access help files to do it manually
using the "User and Group accounts/permissions" option in
the security menu. It was actually pretty easy to do that
way.

The Access help files miss some key steps, so I would suggest that you get a
copy of the Security FAQ and make sure you didn't miss anything. There is a
link to the FAQ on the Security page of my website.
